The Mask | Photography by Louis Martins

"I decided to use a mask in the second half of the film for several reasons. Even during the first half the character was a mystery and never really revealed themselves. In the final act the mask is used to show a complete sense of detachment from the world around them. They are not a part of society, a part of the world; they are locked away in their own skull, whether it is by choice or whether they have been pushed. The mask also gave the visuals a more creepy feeling, it made the actions of the character anonymous, muck like the use of silhouettes, it allows the viewer to bring their own perception to the piece, and take away what they bring".
